Vicente Fuertes Gimeno
Originally from Valencia, Spain, Vicente
studied the double bass in Alicante and Sevilla with Lucian Ciorata,
Solo Double Bass in the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla.
He perfected his studies with various double bass players during
courses and master-classes, working particularly closely with
Slawomir Grenda, Solo Double Bass in the Münchner Philharmoniker.
Vicente was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain
(Solo Double Bass) from 1992 until 1995 when he won a place as
tutti double bass player in the Real Orquesta Sinfónica
de Sevilla. Since then he has been very involved in the cultural
life in Andalucia working with Orquesta de Cámara Andaluza,
Orquesta de Huelva, Orquesta de Cádiz. He is also a founding
member of the chamber groups “Ensemble Zelenka” (2
oboes, bassoon, bass and harpsichord), “Sono Reale”
and “Cuarteto Grosso” (Double Bass quartet).
In Spain he also performed with the European Sinfonieta, the symphony
orchestras of Navarra, Gran Canaria ,Valencia and the Pamplona
Chamber Orchestra.
In July 2008 Vicente moved to Auckland, New Zealand, with his
family. Since then he has already worked with the Auckland Philharmonia
Orchestra, Waitakere City Orchestra and Handel Consort.
When he is not playing Vicente enjoys travelling, cooking and
spending time with his family.
